Comanche Indians Sweep Dublin Lions In Friday Night Run

The Comanche Indian teams swept Dublin High in a Friday night triple header. Mary Jean Andress led the girls with 27 points as Comanche routed Dublin 50-20 to clinch the district 10AA title. Dalton Hicks scored 16 for the boys in a 49-32 win, with Lloyd Biggs adding 15 as Comanche kept pace for the 10AA title. The next game yet to come is Ranger here Friday night.

New Well Shows Oil Near Comanche Area

The Whiteside No. 2 oil test on the T. N. Walker farm, 11 miles northwest of Comanche, reports a good showing at 2,500 feet. Drilling is an offset 700 feet to Ward No. 4, by W. R. Cunningham Brownwood. Pipe assembly ongoing Monday and Tuesday with cementing planned. The well sits near five producers on the John Ward Tract and three on the Mrs. T. C. Summers place.

City approves cost cutting bid for Comanche water filtration plant

The City of Comanche let a contract to J. M. White and Son of Houston for a new water filtration plant and a reservoir top at Lake Eanes. The $82,670 bid, lowest of eleven, covers 150 days of work under Homer Hunter and will use Comanche County labor with a few key men. The project aims to provide pure water and reduce outside criticism. Land adjoining Lake Eanes was purchased from Mrs. Henry Durham to expand the site.

Revival Meeting Opens Thursday At Victory Baptist

A week end revival begins Thursday night February 14 at Victory Baptist Church. Rev Hugh E Newsome from Sort Worth will preach. He leads Streeter Baptist Church in Runnels County and Trick ham Baptist Church in Coleman County and studies at Southwestern Bay Theological Seminary Fort Worth. Comanche, defending State Champions, host Aleman from Hamilton County in a district showdown after claiming the district title.
