Notices from The Comanche Chief dated December 24 1915 announce a census of non relief labor to identify men for WPA projects. Comanche and De Leon chambers of commerce will register able bodied men not on relief at offices 9 a m to 5 p m on Monday and Tuesday. Local officials urge eligible men to participate to avoid penalties and help secure Government work.

De Leon Post Office Raised to 2nd Class Status
De Leon Post Office will be raised from third to second class on January 1. Receipts for 1955 exceed the $9,412 requirement, enabling higher postmaster salary and more clerks. Postmaster R L Scott, formerly editor of the De Leon Free Press, conveyed the decision.

District Attorney Hampton Runs in Democratic Primary
Comanche County Attorney Hampton will seek the Democratic nomination for District Attorney in the Hutchinson District covering Comanche Hamilton and Coryell counties. He is in his second term and was re elected last year without opposition. H W Allen of Hamilton is the current District Attorney, appointed by Gov Allred to replace Tom F Reese who resigned to join the U S Attorney’s Office.
