Ag Workers Earning 51.50 An Hour Must Pay Social Security
Social Security warns that agricultural workers paid 51.50 an hour or cash wages may miss credits if employers do not report wages. A worker is covered when wages reach 150 or 20 days worked for the same employer. Self employment rules apply to custom farm work. Employers must withhold 4.8 of wages and match 48 of their own. Net profits above 400 trigger self employment tax and credits. For info contact Brownwood Social Security or IRS Brownwood.
