J P L plans giant Texas power plant near Fairfield
J P L Texas Power and Light and two other investor owned electric companies announced plans to build a 1,150,000 kilowatt power plant on a 5000 acre site about 5 miles northeast of Fairfield Freestone County. Construction begins late 1968 with units in service by 1971 and 1972. The project includes a 345000 volt transmission system and a 2500 acre cooling dam with 15 billion gallons of water.
