Baby Fatally Run Over by Father’s Car Near Kuster
Donald Wayne Swinney 17 months old died after his father backed a car from the garage at H. Martin’s home near Kuster. The accident occurred Monday Aug 16 as the child, unseen by the driver, played behind the vehicle. He died at De Leon shortly after. Funeral services were held there Tuesday Aug 17.

First Load Peanuts Sold Here Tuesday
The first load of 1937 peanuts arrived in Comanche on Tuesday, brought by J. J. Coker from the Cross Roads community. Durham Pecan and Peanut Company purchased at 80 cents per bushel, with No. 1 quality, 24 bushels per acre, grossing $19.20 per acre. A good yield of peanut hay and fine quality noted.

Comanche public schools announce the 1937 38 opening on Monday September 6 with half day sessions morning classification and assignments 8 30 to 12 noon buses run to noon afternoon scheduling and faculty meetings. First Bale of 1937 Cotton Ginned in Comanche
John A. Schlee of Comanche Route 4 delivered the first 1937 cotton bale ginned by Rauhut Gin Co in Comanche on August 25. The 532 pound bale sold at 10 cents per pound with a $23.50 premium from Comanche merchants. Schlee, who cropped 12 acres to obtain the bale, owns 100 acres of cotton and expects two more bales, aiming for about 30 overall. His early crop is stronger than the late.

Remodeling Completed on Payne's Gulf Service Station
Comanche reports the remodel of Bart Payne's Gulf Service Station No. 1 on Highway 10. The white stucco building with imported English tile features a new washing and lubrication rack, special lubrication equipment, and two new electric gasoline pumps. Payne has managed the station for five years.
