Dairying Drives Kleberg County Growth in South Texas
Oscar Pogue reports Kleberg County farmers and Kingsville businessmen favor dairying over cotton as the county's main crop. Since 1918 the Dairy Products Company built a modern creamery, boosted by liberal bank credit, with over 3,000 dairy cows tuberculin tested. Monthly cream payments approach $4,000 and total dairy revenue exceeds $5,000, bull inspections and a Santa Gertrudis Dairy visit fueling improvements.
