Registration at the Comanche district continues with a teacher meet set for Thursday August 27 at 10 00 a m in the High School staff room. A breakfast for new teachers Friday August 28 at 8 00 a m at the VJ Cafeteria honors new teachers and includes a general faculty meeting.
Peggy Ann Godfrey 15, visiting Comanche from Odessa, was injured in a collision at the Highways 16 and US 67 377 intersection. Her 1956 Dodge sedan and an International trailer truck owned by Pickett Grain collided as signals changed. Police said fault was unclear. both vehicles carried insurance.
The Montgomery family thanks friends and neighbors for acts of kindness during illness and after the loss of Mrs. J. A. Montgomery. Their thoughtful support will be remembered during their sorrow.
In a called August 17 meeting the Comanche School Board awarded the lunch sandwich bid to Mrs Baird’s Bakeries for 1959-60 at 22.8 cents per loaf and the milk bid to Varder voort’s at 0.54 cents per pint, with other bids listed. The board accepted Dale Gore’s resignation as high school English teacher and will decide on the open English position August 20. They tentatively approved the 1959-60 budget, with a public hearing set for August 25 at 7 30 p.m. at the Homemaking cottage.
Mrs Mary Fink of Dallas visited Mr and Mrs O B Cash at 305 East Grand Avenue. She also traveled with the Cashes to Brownwood and De Leon. Greaton and wife spent Sunday in San Marcos visiting her brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs W E West.
