Amendment to permit state funded medical care payments on ballot
Texas voters will decide HJR 36 at the November 1958 general election. The proposal adds a new Subsection to Article III authorizing the Legislature to fund direct or vendor medical care for Old Age Assistance, Aid to the Blind, Aid to Dependent Children, and Permanently and Totally Disabled recipients, with federal funds matching state payments and strict limits. The measure directs inclusion of ballot language for and against and requires gubernatorial proclamation.
