Landmark House Gives Way to Modern Building in Comanche Centennial Year
A sixty nine year old two story rock and brick landmark on Comanche square is being modernized as the city marks its Centennial. The Evridge building, once tied to Comanche’s early boom after 1890, will lose its original brick and rock facade with repairs in progress after Durham's Dry Cleaners moved out. Local history notes the brick came from a Comanche brick plant and clay from nearby, with the A P Building and old First National Bank Building as peers in style. Disputed erection dates noted as 1890 or 1875.
