Comanche and Eastland Counties will host a Texas A&M research program to control the lesser corn stalk borer. Agriculture Commissioner John C. White announced light traps will be set, with TD A fieldmen checking traps to gauge moth numbers and plan pesticide timing to protect peanuts.

The event covered a written test, a driving course, and a trailer operation with penalties for overshoots and unsafe actions.

County 4-H contest results headline and winners
Danny Chapman led the junior division with 681 points while Gail Conway scored 2220 to take second. Ronnie Frost won the junior overall with 1780 and Cliff Conway was second with 1920 and Wayne Byrd third with 2630 points. Danny and Ronnie will represent the county at Tarleton district 4-H eliminations on April 20. Helpers listed include J. A. Cox Wade Davis and Burton Cunningham.
