Saturday School Election Day in Comanche County
Trustee day set for April 3 across Comanche county but only 24 of 58 schools have posted notices under the new law. The County School Board will appoint trustees in the remaining 34 districts without an election. Board members for precincts 1, 3 and 4 are up for re election W J Fritts F M Roberson and J A Lightfoot on the ticket. Independent district election tickets printed throughout the county.

A Z Guin Pioneer Citizen of Comanche Dies
R T Guinn father of Mrs Z H Bishop died at the Bishop home Tuesday night. He had lived in Comanche for over 25 years. Survived by two daughters Mrs Bishop and Mrs Caughlin of Grand Prairie. Funeral services at Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.

Powerswell Well Shot Sparks Oil Show at Beattie Site
The Powerswell near Beattie received a second nitro glycerine shot of 160 quarts in black lime at 2700 feet. By 8 pm the gas flow was strong enough to be heard 150 yards, renewing optimism among investors after a previous shot near 2900 feet in gray lime yielded only a minor, nonessential oil show.

Mrs Jess Harris Called by Death in Brushy Gap
Mrs Elina Elizabeth Cunningham Harris died at her Brushy Gap home after a time of illness worsened by a brief recovery. She was born February 24 1872 at Newburg and married Jess Hearn Harris March 27 1890. Survived by five sons and two daughters plus many relatives and a large funeral attendance at Newbury Baptist Church conducted by Dr Forrest Maddox.

Snowy thaw brings frost and fruit concerns this week
Snow fell thick and fast for half an hour Tuesday morning with freezing conditions Tuesday and Wednesday. Reports differ on fruit and vegetation damage with some saying everything is killed while others bring a contrary report. A rain of just over a quarter inch occurred Monday night.

The American Legion Band will stage a burlesque carnival and style show at the high school auditorium next Thursday night. Early program notes promise one of Comanche’s most entertaining events in years for local residents.
