Final Offer in Chief Circulation Drive Seeks Chevy and Cars

The Comanche Chief founder faces death as the last general offer of the Great Circulation Drive is proclaimed for this and next week. Workers in three districts compete March 29 to April 9 for fifty one prize ballots and points. District three leads in activity, with top scorers winning the Chevrolet Coach and the other two districts each receiving a touring car.

Van Dyke Pupils Plan Milk Fat Tests

Pupils at Van Dyke School will test milk from cows in the community to determine butter fat percentage. Owners may submit milk for testing and records will track each cow’s value as a butter fat producer while students gain training in butter fat analysis.

Beattie and Suez Vote To Merge Schools

Beattie and Suez voters approved consolidation in a joint election held last Saturday. Beattie approved 25 to 0 while Suez 21 to 17, creating a single school district.

Machinery on the ground for the T and P test near Sidney advances with spudding planned soon on the Mrs J A Ward land. The Star rig will drill a 3000 foot well under a lease package pursued months ago, drawing oil fraternity and local interest.

Beeman Pioneer Comanche Chief Founder Dies in City

G A Beeman founder of the Comanche Chief died at his sister Mrs L B Russell's residence on Tuesday March 29 1927 at 2 45 pm after months with a malignant tumor. Funeral held Wednesday at 4 pm with Rev Dr John Power officiating and Masonic burial rites. Surviving are a daughter Mrs J B Chilton and several Beeman siblings and in laws. Born August 11 1845 in Springsville Indiana, Beeman served in the Confederate 1st Texas Cavalry and later pursued saddle tree making and early publishing ventures in Texas communities.

Cipe Springs Reports New Sand at 400 Feet

A Callaway led well three and a half miles southwest of Sipe Springs at four hundred feet hits a new shallow sand pool. Brought in last Thursday afternoon and pumped March 31, it is expected to yield five to ten barrels. The site lies one mile west of the F. J. Boorman property and seems a new pool, not a continuation. Interest grows as leasing and drilling activity increases nearby.

Rock To Manage Local Gas Office

E. E. Cornelius, previously in charge of the Tri Cities Gas local office, is transferred to Dublin to oversee meter and regulator repair for four towns. Ernest Rock will succeed him as local manager. the community congratulates both men on the promotion and transfer.

De Leon wins Class A in Comanche county meet record

The Comanche County Board of Directors reports the county Interscholastic League Meet was the largest and most successful. De Leon High School captured the Class A all round and literary cups, while Comanche High School won Class A track and field. Comyn took Class B honors as rural and ward school results await final checking.
