Armistice Day in Colville organizing by Frank Starr Post No 47 of the American Legion drew a large crowd in 1921. Horns bells and explosives marked 11 o'clock, a banquet for ex service members, a two minute Arlington cemetery tribute, a smoker and dance drew about 400 spectators with nearly 100 at the dance.

Stevens County Pioneer Dies After Adventurous Life
Pat Dh. Kearney age 62 prospector and miner, a longtime figure in Stevens County, was found dead at his Chesaw Washington home last week. He helped locate the Old Dominion mine with Al Benoist and Bill Kearney, built Colville’s first hotel, and managed the mine in Spokane before a wide tracing of ventures.

Valuable Persian kitten saved by surgical operation
A needle and thread were removed from the esophagus of Dempsey a valuable Persian kitten owned by Mr and Mrs J A Rice by Dr Kenneth G McKay assisted by Dr F EB Allen of the US Department of Agriculture. The needle lay near the second cervical vertebra and a small skin and esophagus incision was made. No anaesthetic was used as the cat cannot endure it. Dempsey recovered in minutes and is now in splendid condition though wary of needles.
