No Additional Land Open in Colville Reservation
United States Register of Lands J. L. Wiley clarifies that reclassification under the grazing act does not open further reservation land to entry. Only lands already open to entry will be governed by the grazing act, allowing 640 acres with required improvements of at least $1.25 per acre annually for stock development.

Electric Point mine advances to 700 foot level at Leadpoint
At the Electric Point mine near Leadpoint about 50 men are currently employed, down from two times that a while back due to new machinery. The main shaft now reaches 700 feet, richer lead carbonates found there, with a plan to surface an opening and inaugurate a new ore zone. Sixteen teams haul ore to Boundary, rail and tramway work underway, but road conditions limit shipments. A rail line to Boundary is surveyed but may wait until next year. Registration Opens June Sixth for 21 to 30 Year Old Men
President’s proclamation extends selective draft eligibility to all male US residents who reached 21 since June 5 1917. In Stevens county six registration sites list six registrars with a local board in Colville. Exemptions include military and naval personnel while in service. failure to register carries up to one year imprisonment and loss of rights. New cards will be kept separate from 1917 registrations to ensure 1917 registrants are called first.
