Assistant cashier resigns from First National Bank Colville

W. C. Vilwock, assistant cashier for 12 years, resigns and plans to move with his wife to a 500 acre Columbia River ranch. He has accumulated land, aims to water 100 acres, raise purebred Jersey cattle Berkshire hogs and White Leghorn chickens, and sell a Colville tract soon. The couple leaves for the ranch later this month.

Squirrel Eradication Campaign Entrusts Tickets for Poisoned Oats

Preparations for the 1921 squirrel eradication drive are funded by sale of tickets exchangeable for poisoned oats at community meetings. 1000 ounces of strychnine have arrived in Colville for mixing with the oats. Distribution occurs at two meetings per community with bait mixed locally and sold for 30 cents per quart, aiding farmers unable to attend. Northwest Stockmen to Hold Conference in Spokane

About 500 stockmen from four northwest states are set for the fourth annual northwest livestock conference in Spokane on March 22 28 and 24. The Washington State Farm Bureau session also runs March 22 and 238 with joint speakers. Notable speakers include J R Howard president of the American Farm Bureau Federation and W O Condel livestock authority. The American Shorthorn Association sale is slated for March 23 at Union Stock Yards with Hercules farm holding a sale the following afternoon.

National Organizer Visits Stevens County Bureau

Stevens County Potatoes Above the Average

Fred B. Huck of Colville supplied 100 pounds of Netted Gem seed potatoes to Prof. O M Morris at Washington State College for a test with 21 other lots. Morris noted Huck's plot No 9 yielded above average and advised using seed prospects. Huck’s crop produced 11 730 pounds per acre.

Beginners Band Practicing Several Nights a Week in Colville

A forty piece band is being developed in Colville under Prof. M. W. Meyer. The regular band meets Tuesday. the fifteen member beginners band practices in sections on different weeknights. The beginners include three saxophones four clarinets two Melaphones trombones tubas and drums. A euphonium with double bells from Frank Holton is used by Carl Hard and is first of its kind in Colville. The aim is to advance beginners toward joining the regular band for summer work and improve overall proficiency.
