Mayor W L Sax resigns office after five terms in Colville
After five and a half years as Colville mayor and long service on the council and school board, W L Sax resigns effective June 17 to take new duties with Stevens County Abstract Co. He will serve as president and oversee records while L E Jesseph becomes manager. Henry R Spedden also departs the Stevens County Abstract Co. for new work.

Clair Hunt Finds 150 Pound Stone Of Historical Interest
Commissioner Clair Hunt recovered a 150 pound stone from Sheep creek while building an approach to the bridge. He believes it to be a prehistoric idol carved with crude tools resembling a bust. Hunt notes it is not Indian work and cites his knowledge of their art while his daughter calls it just a stone.

Stevens County Sportsmen Plan June Stage Big Shoot Event
A big competition shoot organized by the Stevens County Sportsmen's Association runs from June 8 to 15 with Chewelah and Colville members contesting. Hunters will score points for targets including ground and pine squirrels, weasels, coyotes, and more with a prize for the top scorer. The losing side will host a dinner for competitors.

June 8 to 14 Set Aside as Boy Scout Week
The week beginning June 8 and ending June 14 has been set apart to enlarge and strengthen the Boy Scout organization. Associate memberships will be offered to mothers and fathers of American boys and other adult citizens. Circus arrival promises lavish animals in Alice in Jungleland
The Al G Barnes circus returns to Colville arriving early June 1 and presents a lavish wild animal exhibit. The season features the fairyland fantasy Alice in Jungleland with elephants, lions, tigers, zebras, and trained beasts, plus a parade at 10:30 and shows at 1 and 7. Mrs. Ben Aspend visited Spokane last weekend to see her husband at Edgecliff Sanitarium.
