Cooper Union marks fifty years of useful arts education
The Cooper Union in New York celebrated its half century of free or low cost instruction in useful arts. Since 1849 Peter Cooper founded the school, which began with 2000 students and expanded to over 6000 applications in 1909, fostering a practical class atmosphere without college life distractions.
