The Stevens County Fair Association announces the tenth annual county fair to be held October 10 to 12 in Colville Washington. Three district premium prizes of 75 ra 25 will reward best district displays with districts named by towns and villages.

Pioneer Col D C Ely dies in Portland after long career
News reaches Colville of the death of Colonel D C Ely former Stevens County auditor. Ely a Civil War veteran from Ohio served in the Sixth Iowa infantry moved west to Chewelah and later to Iona Oregon where he ran a real estate business. He was sergeant at arms in the Oregon House and active in the G A R at Chewelah. Interment occurred in Portland.

Union Services at Congregational Church Draw Crowd
About 250 people attended last evenings union services at the Congregational church. Rev. Rice preached on How Long Halt ye Between Two Opinions based on I Kings 18 21 with remarks from Reverends Wells Hilton and Lauringon. Rev. Wells will deliver the sermon next Sunday evening.

Saturday Morning Fire Destroys Plant and Damages Homes
A citywide alarm woke residents Saturday as a fire at the new plant addition and an older connected building burned rapidly. The Colville department saved the Hughes property next door, with Matthews insured for 1500 and Hughes property totaling about 350. Buchanan’s personal losses near 100, and a later report notes 135 pounds of station pressure.

Twenty five horse covers bearing Stevens County Fair 1911 advertisements have been ordered by the fair officers. The covers will be given to travelers and firms with extensive travel across the county.
Pretty home wedding unites Lasswell and Diehl couple
Miss Minnie Elizabeth Lasswell wed James Isaac Diehl in a Thursday morning ceremony at the Lasswell home on Oak Street. Rev L B Harris officiated with John C Lasswell as best man and Mary Diehl as bridesmaid. The couple plans a weeklong honeymoon and will reside at 218 North Oak Street. Diehl works as head sawyer at Corle and Diehl sawmill.
