Cement plan for First Avenue paving approved by Chamber

The Chamber of Commerce backed cement paving for a 24 foot wide center strip on First Avenue from Wynne street to the railway. Costs exceed assessable value, so an improvement district will be created with subscriptions to cover the balance. Suit to recover Hotel Colville property in Chandler addition

P B Dingle and A L Dingle filed in superior court a suit against William Elliott to recover possession of the Hotel Colville and lands in Chandler’s addition to Colville. They claim a 1919 land contract providing for sale price 15500 with 4200 down, 150 to 200 monthly payments, 5000 to be paid later with deed and mortgage. Elliott allegedly defaulted on taxes and repairs and is unlawfully holding the property by force. Damages listed 500 with a writ of ouster issued by Judge Carey on bond 2000. Attorneys named for both sides.

Republicans at Stevens county convention nominate Poindexter support

The Stevens county Republican convention named delegates to the state convention and endorsed Miles Poindexter for president. The meeting approved organizing Republican clubs countywide and pledged support for Miles Poindexter, Wesley L. Jones, and J. Stanley Webster. May 14 Colville High School will graduate 40 students, led by Roy McDermid and Lola A. Smith. E J Milberg will stay at 436 North Maple while planning a new home.

Democratic Convention at Colville Sets April 28

A mass Democratic meeting of Stevens County is called for Wednesday April 28 1920 at 2 p m at the county courthouse to choose 22 delegates and 22 alternates to the Democratic State Convention in Spokane May 17. At the county gathering women will elect a county chairwoman and a state committeewoman to attend Spokane to help elect a state chairwoman.
