Tragic ambush on McLaughlin canyon frontier march

In 1858 a mixed party led by Dave McLaughlin advances toward the Columbia Okanogan route with 150 men from Wallula. After river crossings and repeated Indian cautions, a fatal confrontation unfolds near McLaughlin Canyon when a hunter’s horse bolts and a clash ensues, ending with a deadly surprise encounter.
