Mrs Helen Bowlen widow of John Bowlen died Monday morning at the home of Mrs Elijah Cole four miles west of the city. The funeral is set for this afternoon at the residence conducted by Rev Harper Shields. The Bowlen name recalls the former Bowlen hotel in town. A Mandolin Club entertainment at E H Kinney’s brought music to Mechanic and Fourth streets before a late drive to Edinburg. A local storekeeper’s pushy sales tactics drawing customer ire noted at the end.
The Days Record notes multiple funerals in Columbus area. George Geitz of Union Township to be buried today. Mrs J B Gilbert dies at Union Street home with funeral at South Bethany Thursday afternoon. Mrs Cash B Cooper dies in Colorado and will be interred Thursday afternoon at City Cemetery.
