Merchants reported yesterday as one of the quietest days of the season with very few people on the street all day. The subdued activity marked a stark contrast to busier periods and reflected overall slow trade.
Our City Markets report the Columbus grain prices with Wheat at 86 cents and Corn at 20 cents yesterday. The notes reflect steady demand and stable trading in the local grain pits.
Traveling auditor for the Penn. Co. finished reviewing the company’s accounts at the current point and returned to Indianapolis yesterday morning.
Funeral service for the child of Mr. Chas Cavanaugh will be held at nine o clock this morning at the family residence on Sixteenth Street Rev Sigmond officiating. Burial will follow at the city cemetery.

The roof of Mrs Price's house damaged by the Stevens fire has been replaced with a new roof. The property was fully insured.
Wm M Waltman visited his Georgetown area farm Friday to inspect his apple crop. He anticipates about a thousand bushels and expects a favorable price for the harvest.
The O. L. S. C. meeting at the North side school was largely attended with nearly all members present and several visitors. The program was well rendered.
The Big Four proposes a cheap round trip to Cincinnati one week from tomorrow. Fare likely set at $1.00.
The yellow fever situation showed improvement yesterday with thirty one new cases in New Orleans ten at Edwards and ten at Hiloxi. Four deaths occurred in the stricken district. The outbreak is officially present in Hendersons Point and Clinton Mississippi.
List notes Mrs Henry Wills has been very ill with stomach trouble and is now much improved. Herman Kollmeyer, an asthma sufferer, is somewhat better. Ed Shipman’s condition is slowly improving and was much better yesterday.
In circuit court Friday no action was taken on the case Elmer Brisben versus Reeves & Co and Fidelity Casualty Co. Damages claimed amount to 2000 dollars. Defendants moved to dismiss on grounds the plaintiff is a minor.
The case of William Brown who assaulted Conductor Robinson and Brakeman Shipman of the Pennsylvania road at Cementville months ago is being heard in Clark County circuit court.
John V. Story plans a stairway to the upper floor occupied by Ernst Stahlhath Co. in the rear block. The Columbus Camera Club, called Kodak Fiends, will outfit upper rooms as a studio.

Reeves and Company will close down today for one week to permit relocation of their boilers. A new boiler house is to be built to eliminate the iron smoke stack running through the three story building. The change is expected to benefit insurance companies.
Property owner Lord Frank Stapp as commissioner sold the grounds and residence of the late Prof F R Holland at public auction. Chancellor W J Holland of the Western University of Pennsylvania bought it for 2500 cash. Ben Scudder acted as auctioneer. Mrs Anna Thrapp and her son Frank will remain in the residence.
Mrs Emma Perry will host the Columbus culture Club at a home north of the city next Wednesday afternoon.
