Circaco January 24 The Northwest ern Stove Repair Company's factory at 225 to 237 West Twelfth street was ruined by a large fire. Fire engines found water plugs frozen delaying suppression for about fifteen minutes allowing the blaze to spread rapidly. Residents began moving belongings as flames engulfed the building.

Counterfeiting Couple Arrested In New York
Henry Bernard and wife Charlotte were jailed on $5,000 bail after secret service agents charged them with counterfeiting silver coins. Bernard, described as an expert counterfeiter, allegedly passed bad coins in West Side shops for weeks. A home search revealed a counterfeiting plant and about $25 in bad coins.
