Archie Cox, son of Bartholomew County Sheriff, suffered a dislocated left arm after a wrestling match with a companion. The arm was dislocated at the elbow, a physician set it, and he is resting comfortably.
Road bonds are expected to be sold this week in Jennings County. Howard Lee plans to visit Vernon this week. Stillinger and Lee hold the Vernon one mile contract for the New Pike and aim to begin once bonds are sold as Columbus contractors show interest.
A scanned page shows recipes for Lemon Flapjacks and Stewed Liver with steps and ingredients. It also notes George Henry of St Denis Shaving Parlors angling for members of a “fancy tribe” and mentions Belle's of Blackville advertising a new warehouse for the Bus Handle Co, with two men remarking on the situation.
The funeral of Councilman Wim. McCullough was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o clock from the Methodist church. Rev. Dr. Curtiss offered words of cheer and consolation. The council attended in a body and paid tribute with an oral offering Gates Ajar. Pallbearers named H L Itos B W Parker J A Carnagy W T Lucas Jas A Sibley Geupe Winans Aaron Hughes and W A Stevens.

Livestock prices cover cattle hogs horses while poultry eggs butter lard and flour and brand prices appear. Fred Dahn's team and a young horse became restive and bolted from Newsom's grocery yesterday morning. The gravel wagon they pulled sped north on Washington Street to the starch works road with several vehicles narrowly missing collisions. No injuries were reported to the horses or wagon.
Notes and accounts of the Edin burg Cabinet Company nearly worthless were sold at public auction in front of the John A. Thompson Bank building. The sale, conducted by receiver William Threlkeld, realized $50. Ed. Tribune reports the outcome.
Wise buyers report Sipe Dolman and Blake stage a dog and monkey show in Columbus with two daily performances on April 30 and May 1. Property listings include Hartsville acreage trade for Columbus property and a Colum bus dwelling with barn offering monthly terms. The Star Prize Wheel votes list Susie Coons Anna Tooley Dot Matthews Emma Moore and others as top contenders for the most popular lady in Columbus. Mrs Deputy and her children departed yesterday for Benton Illinois to join her husband and father who had moved earlier to buy a farm.
Bartholomew County Democrats met at the St. Dennis Hotel parlors and unanimously chose Judge Francis T. Hord as the party’s candidate to succeed the late William S. Holman as congressman from the district. The Tuesday night session adopted a resolution mourning Holman’s death.
Brook Dillman, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Dillman of North Mechanic Street, fainted after returning from school Tuesday noon and fell striking her side on a chair post. Her mother, near at hand, revived her after a time and the injury is described as painful with recovery expected to take several days.

Mrs. Henry Bickleberry’s telegram from Jackson, Tennessee, signals her mother’s illness and she leaves for Jackson. James Laughlin, J Kollmeyer, and J N Marsh travel to Nashville to discuss political matters and Brown County support for Judge Herd. Phillip Hike, injured at Maleys saw mills, shows improvement. Mrs. Everson and daughter Mollymeaux return to Cambridge City. Mrs. Thixton goes to Jeffersonville then back to Terre Haute. Mrs. Lou Wallick returns to Seymour. Grandma Heckman shows improvement after illness. Mrs. Allison, in Indianapolis for millinery purchases, plans to Nashville next. Mrs. Mary Crouch of Nashville visits.
The funeral for Almond Brooks takes place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family home at the corner of Fifth and Chestnut. Rev. Z. T. Sweeney conducts services under the Knights of Pythias, of which Brooks was a long honored member. The notice also promotes subscriptions to the Weekly Star and related papers with various one year and short-term rates.
In Christiansburg Brown County a young orphan boy about thirteen confessed to stealing money and stamps from the post office. A detective tracked the crime after a suspect tried to buy stamps in payment for a revolver. The case is with the United States Marshall as authorities consider reclamation and justice.
The Duffy Co mortgage to Craig Reynolds and Co of Indianapolis has been released. Howard Duffy Senior is praised for hard work and honesty after facing financial misfortune and trade decline. The Star expresses gladness at his recovery and wishes him success.
Epworth League held a sugar party at George Ellis residence last evening. Mr Boyce from Titusville will visit Brown County today to manage land interests near Mt Liberty. Columbus Tran Manufacturing Co advertises first class water pipe repair services and employment notices in Cincinnati. Sheriff King of Brown County visited yesterday afternoon. Wise Buyers White Flyers return to Nashville today.
