Edison Eyes Blind See Through X Rays For Cures

The article recounts Thomas Edison exploring X rays to restore sight for the blind. Edison tests on two men, Mahrbacher and Kallense, using fluoroscope and direct rays to gauge perception though closed eyelids. He notes the subjects could “see” some light and fire, but warns the results depend on intelligent, describable sensations. Edison aims for a practical method and questions subject suitability, suggesting further work in Germany, San Francisco, France, or the United States.
