A Lightning Tragedy and a City Romance at Jeans

The Republican Journal reports the deaths of Jemf erson and young Hughes by lightning, then chronicles a melodramatic taleof Edward Brant a clerk who wooed Emily Granburn. He wins consent, is rejected, leaves New York, returns, faces a duplicitous father, and elopes with Emily only to be exposed.
