Niagara burned off Port Washington wreck sinks with loss

Reports say the steamer Niagara of the Collingwood line caught fire about four miles off Port Washington on Lake Michigan on the 24th at 1 PM and burned quickly. Captain Miller perished with many passengers while Captain Sweeny and crew helped others to safety. The vessel was valued at up to 890,000 with 300 life preservers and lifeboats.

Night Train Collision Kills Eight Laborers in New Albany
