A N A N report states the Spanish fleet has been definitively located in Santiago Harbor with naval observers confirming positions and awaiting further instruction.
Washington dispatch reports Commodore Schley locating Admiral Cervera's squadron in the bay of Santiago de Cuba. He claims sighting and recognizing the Spanish vessels, boosting hope the fleet is bottled up. Editorial notes possible landing near the harbor and imminent U.S. troop movements toward Cuba.

Delegates to upcoming conventions are listed by ward with names for state, congressional and senatorial posts. Also noted are social visits to Indianapolis, illness updates, a Holiness Convention in Cincinnati, and patriotic programs at area churches with local speakers and performances.
The Republicans of the 8th precinct are summoned to Woolley's store at 7th and Chestnut on June 8 1898 at 7 30 p m to choose 12 delegates for the county convention on June 4 1898.
