Deputy sheriff Blartin Larkin of Columbus was in town yesterday evening. Miss Hazel Fitzpatrick returned home from Columbus after a week with her grandparents. Zebe Danner serves on a Columbus jury this week. Hope public schools report no graduates this year. Frank O Donnell, ill with lung fever, is now able to be out. Nading and Handley begin erection of a new flouring mill with 75 barrels flour and 125 corn meal daily, likely in operation within two months. Rumor of 35 cent meals during encampment denied. only 25 cents charged per Mr. McCork says. John S. Crump may move his street car barn to a private cemetery site. Street arches wiring for encampment electric lights under way. Fifth street arch decoration starts today.

H L Rost and Samuel Fitch of Ohio township and Charles Sullivan of Clifford are arranging space for stands and show tents. Henry Howe and Scott Elzea, Republicans seeking sheriff, visited the city this Saturday morning. Walter Pancake of Clifford was in town, and John Scofield of Clifford joined the WEEKLY Star’s growing family.
The city council plans to deploy 60 extra policemen along with private and regular officers for the encampment, bringing total guardians of the peace to about 100. Reports from Manila state Admiral Dewey has seized artillery rifles and ammunition from Cavite fortifications on Corregidor island and landed forces to isolate the Manila garrison from the Luzon interior.
The British steamship Adula reached Kingston Jamaica from Cienfuegos carrying 295 Americans English and Cuban refugees. The ship was quarantined upon arrival and had been allowed to pass a blockade despite fears of a massacre of foreign residents when she left Cienfuegos.

Appointments to Law and Appeals made and confirmed. other offices to be filled after Galvin returns. Vehicle license enforcement expected to fund repairs.
