In Memory of the Dead Soldiers Memorial Service
Memorial services were held at Needmore on Sunday the 4th with graves decorated and flowers strewn over resting places. Addresses were delivered by Rev. Hall Elder W R Williams W M Waltman and J H Renniger. Music was provided by Needmore and Bloomington brass bands the Jackson creek choir and Bloomington colored glee club. Decoration exercises were led by James M Yo officer of the day. The crowd was the largest ever seen at Needmore reflecting severance and patriotism.

Stranger Don J Hendrie Aids Big 4 in Subscribing Drive
Don J Hendrie arranged with Isaac T Brown to mobilize a force called the Big 4 to solicit subscribers for the Daily and Weekly Republican in the city and county with premium pictures. He was arrested Tuesday on a Moss of Bloomfield Democrat embezzlement charge. Hendrie offered to pay $4 per day until about $40 was settled if released, which Moss rejected. Sheriff McLaughlin of Greene county then transported him to Bloomfield for trial.
