QOio Jan 20. William Frier aged 28 was adjudged insane and committed to the asylum. His insanity was attributed to overstudy of the subject of magic.
Portland Jan 20 report says the relief expedition will depart aboard the steamer George W. Elder from Portland for Skaguay on February 1. The move follows a proposed start date and outlines the voyage to Alaska for aid operations.
Citizens urged to attend a public meeting at city hall at 7 20 p m A splendid program and general talks on encampment matters are planned. The reception committee appointed by the G A R met guests at the depot and escorted them to hotels, including W J Strickland J J Halbert John Stobo J A Moore Jus R Hendricks.

Mrs Benniehouse returns from Shelbyville where she visited Mrs Harry Vandergriff who is very ill. Mrs Wm Shepherd and her son, visiting Mrs Chas Barna, return to Seymour. Mrs Wm Hall of Cambridge City spends the day in Columbus. Miss Addie Wilson of Christiansburg visits Col Nickerson and family. Mrs M J Luker spends the day at Elizabethtown.
Mrs Sarah Young wife of Rev Andrew Young died Thursday January 20 1898 at her Mt Liberty Indiana home after chest and lung cancer. Funeral not preached due to weather burial set for January 21 at 10 am in Dobbs cemetery. She leaves many relatives and friends to mourn.
A two weeks meeting at Mt Zion under Rev Enoch Agnes ends as residents report poor roads and a moved post office to W 8 Noblitt east of Story. A.
