Postoffice robber Collins Carter arrested in Brown County

Collins Carter, accused of robbing the Macon Illinois post office in 1885, was arrested yesterday in Brown County by Constable Kennedy and Deputy U S Marshal Branham. The 200 dollars in money and stamps were taken from the safe, then Carter returned to Brown County where he once lived. Ex sheriff Taggart of Nashville first learned of the case through Carter’s acquaintances. Carter had recently served a year in the penitentiary for sheep stealing. He was taken to Indianapolis last night.

Funeral Delay After Message From Knight Family

The funeral of Mrs. Wm. Knight, victim of yesterday morning’s accident, was postponed by undertaker Emmons after a message from Knight’s father in Greensburg. The service may be held tomorrow afternoon with Rev. Thornton officiating, burial in the city cemetery. Conrad J. Freidersdorf is discussed as a candidate for county commissioner. Mrs. C. H.
