A spring wagon with two men and two women circled Fifth and California, then east. A thief jumped down, seized Mr Doup’s buggy whip, and recaptured the wagon before fleeing. If the whip is returned to Kollinger’s residence, no questions will be asked. Prosecution possible if goods not returned.
Wim H Everroad named attorney for the indigent by county commissioners with a salary of 100 dollars per year. Rev Frank Morris of DePauw preached at the M E church yesterday morning and is expected to lead during Dr Curtis’s absence. Sunday school drew 303 attendees and a 10 dollar collection.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Allison McKinley will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at the First Methodist Episcopal church in Canton. Interment is in West Lawn cemetery. President McKinley and officials from Washington will depart for Washington after the funeral.
The week’s expenditures show 60 orders totaling $101.31 as Trustee Jewell’s charity disbursements face criticism. meanwhile Brown and Jackson counties push gravel road plans with multiple new routes to connect towns and boost trade. Local officials anticipate a Canton funeral entourage and note impending road committee actions.
