At West Lawn cemetery in Canton 20000 visitors saw the McKinley funeral site with a seven by six foot wreath from the Russian emperor placed on the casket. Dr. Rixey reported Mrs. McKinley holding her own and resting well during Sunday outings.
In Chili on September 23 a memorial service was held at the city music hall for the late President McKinley. United States minister Mr. Wilson presided with President Riesco, cabinet members, diplomatic corps, and top officials in attendance. Rev. Lefartra officiated, Rev. Lester delivered an address, and music included a large orchestra, chorus, and performances of Lead Kindly Light and Ave Maria.
