Milburn House Buffalo reports the president’s condition favorable with no blood poisoning signs. Doctors say stomach perforation is healed, encysted bullet in muscle, improved wound care, and beef juice tolerance rising from one to three spoonfuls as he rests in a newly moved bed.

A disastrous fire at St Johns Newfoundland on September 12 destroyed several fish and seal oil stores on the south side after a boiler explosion in a cooperage. Two men were killed and several others injured as crews from the Newfoundland MS Alert aided firefighting. Losses estimated at about $500000 as the blaze raged throughout the day.
The Wichita grand jury charged Wm. Martindale with wrecking the national bank two years after its failure. The bank president Oroess died by suicide at the time. A committee was appointed to convey resolutions to President McKinley following the attempt on his life.
In Connellsville Pennsylvania on September 12 the rescue party at Pt Royal succeeded gathering seven of thirteen entombed miners from the Pittsburg Coal Co. explosion on June 10. Officials expect to recover the remaining six bodies by Thursday.
Dallas Texans Sept 12 Henry Williams, convicted at Marshall of murdering Henry Brown, is sentenced to death. John Heart, who killed Emil Herman near Brownwood last spring, earns a death sentence for October 22. Also, Post Office Inspector Williams reports the arrest of Wm. J. Fair, Newbury postmaster, charged with embezzling postal and money order funds.

A 500 gallon oil tank and high pressure hose disperse oil over stagnant pools while officials plan wider, possibly national, action to drain or treat swamps and reduce mosquito births.
