In McEwen Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon postmaster Dr. J H Arrington fatally shot druggist Alex Wright after a dispute over a prescription Arrington claims it was in self defense.
James M. Nix of Shawnee has been arrested on a charge of poisoning his wife who died suddenly last Friday. A warrant is out for Mrs. Nix's sister as an alleged accomplice.

Columbus reports Mayor Tom L. Johnson seeks a mandamus ordering the state board of equalization to re assess Ohio railroad property at market value. Johnson argues railways are appraised at about 23 percent while real estate stands near 60 percent. If upheld, rail valuations could rise from 117 million to around 356 million.
Washington reports that Republican members will meet in caucus at 2 PM Saturday to nominate House officers. No contest is seen for Speaker Henderson and other officers. A possible clash over re adopting Reed rules is anticipated with discussion scheduled through the afternoon and evening. The Democratic caucus is set for 11 AM Saturday to nominate minority candidates and select minority concessions in the House.

The will of Douglas Waite filed in Toledo on November 27 leaves his library to the YMCA. Waite was a brother of the late Chief Justice M. R. Waite and his collection was noted as one of Ohio’s most extensive.
