Severe Nebraska storms on Sunday hit five counties Adams Clay Fillmore Saline and Gage with widespread hail ruining small grain and fruit trees. Husband Becomes Victim in Sing Sing Electrocution

Adrian Braun, convicted of murdering his wife, was electrocuted at Sing Sing on Monday. He died about one minute after the 1800 volt current was turned on at 9:17 am. Braun had a history of abuse and had previously killed his wife with a knife in 1898 during a prison visit.

Reports from Wisconsin Illinois and Michigan describe tornado damage including shattered barns wind mills blown down and crop losses in La Prairie Champaign county Homer Perry and nearby areas. The U S navy will pay Merritt & Chapman 75000 for the Reina Mercedes wrecking contract and decide whether to repair or preserve the cruiser as a war souvenir.

Swindlers Held on Bail and Montgomery Tragedy

New York on May 30 J Percival Stewart Robert Cameron Edward Barr and Daniel Pierce of the American Investors Co were each held on 1500 bail for swindling hundreds of customers. Harry Woodruff arrested released last week on the same charge was again arrested and paroled for further examination. In Montgomery Alabama Mrs John H Clisby wife of the mayor was fatally hurt by jumping from a carriage and her sister Mrs Charles Virgin was seriously injured.

President McKinley Amends Civil Service Rules

The May 30 order broadens the 1896 civil service framework to reduce friction and delays. About 4000 positions are affected, with many places moved from competitive examination to excepted from examination and others freed from rule operation. Wind and Rain Storm Causes Property Damage in Burgh

A severe wind and rain storm struck the area on Monday causing extensive property damage in several towns. No fatalities were reported. Annie Sullivan, a 10 year old, was struck by a live telephone wire, burning across the throat. Physicians stated she has a chance of recovery. The Miller Street schoolhouse in Minersville lost its roof and A Warmcastle’s livery stable roof blew off. Telephone, telegraph and trolley systems were disrupted, delaying streetcar service for hours and the east end electric light plant was wrecked leaving towns in darkness.

Severe storm sweeps Buffalo area causing injuries and damage

A severe rain and windstorm hit Buffalo and surrounding towns on Monday. The 90 foot smoke stack at Buffalo Cast Iron Pipe Co. was toppled, fatally injuring workers Andrew Reidle and Valentine Hahn and lightly injuring about 20 others. At Lockport a grandstand collapsed, fatally injuring Daniel Toothill, 14, and injuring two other youths. Reports from Tonawanda Jamestown and nearby areas note downed trees outhouses blown down broken windows and lightning strikes.
