A Criminal by Nature Sentenced in Satem Indiana

James Barnes was sentenced to two years in the state reformatory for attempted assault on a twelve year old child of Asbury Still last week. Barnes had been out of the penitentiary six months and returned to the area then remarried the wife who aided in sending him to prison and had obtained a divorce while he was at Jeffersonville. He is a Kentuckian. Mrs. John Nugent left last evening to visit friends at Hartford City.

Strike at glass plant ends. workers return to work

In Roxomo Indiana on May 28 the United States goblet and tumbler works at Greentown faced a carrier boys strike over extra pay. The forty five workers walked out but the strike failed as nearly all boys returned to work and the plant resumed operations.

Little Girl Dies After Clothes Catch Fire in Bathing Incident

A seven year old daughter of James Leatherman near Canton attempted to fry an egg while parents were out. Her clothes took fire and she died last night from burn injuries. Memorial services will be held at the Christian church in East Columbus at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon conducted by Rev. O D Maple.
