Cummins Sues Ex Congressman Conn For Libel
John W. Cummins Democratic member of the Board of Police Commissioners of Exhaust filed in the Circuit Court a libel suit seeking 10000 against ex Congressmen Conn proprietor of the Elkhart Daily Truth and Solomon M. Goldsmith. The suit cites claims of saloon visits and a pension record, and mentions a 33 year old shooting incident in Laporte. Culture Club appoints officers for next year in Columbus
The Columbus Culture Club met at Mrs. Clay’s home to form a committee of Mrs. McEwen Mrs. Eugenia Wright Mrs. Alice Redman and Mrs. Irene B Hawley to craft next year’s programme. They will keep study in America and plan a year end event at first year’s close in Ostober with poetry by members at the June 7 session. The next meetings will be at Mrs Grant Perry and Mrs McEwen’s homes. Refreshments were provided by Mrs. Clay assisted by Mrs. Fr W Frese. The RoRY MCA marks its fourth anniversary this Sunday with pulpit speakers from Indianapolis Louisville and Chicago alongside local pastors. The year’s finances are strong with obligations fulfilled and $150 toward debt. Local pastors will change pulpit assignments.
