County to sue ex treasurer over 1800 claim

Hantrrorp City Indiana county commissioners authorize county attorney to sue W. B. Fortner former county treasurer for 1800. Fortner had been allowed 1800 at the 1895 September term as compromise on a 3400 claim for salary and fees, arguing under 1879 law a larger fee allowance than 1891 and 1893 laws.

Four Women Deadly Train Collision After Picnic

A carriage carrying four women was struck by a Pennsylvania train at Bates street crossing in Localsport Indiana. Daisy Raymond of Valparaiso died aboard the train. Lillian Moore of Lafayette is dying. Fern Lambert of Logansport and Stella Foster of unknown hometown sustained serious injuries. The women had picnicked outdoors and sought shelter from a storm before driving home. the accident occurred as the carriage crossed the tracks and was dragged by the engine. The injured were taken to St Joseph Hospital.
