In St Louis on June 15 color supporters from Florida Alabama and South Carolina endorsed Reed at a colored mass meeting called by Representative Murray of South Carolina. About 200 delegates attended as Johnson of Alabama and Simms of New York spoke for Reed and against McKinley. The gathering adjourned to morning.
