A powerful waterspout and heavy rains on the upper Colorado river caused a 25 foot rise at Marble Falls Llano, with 25 000 damage to the water works bridge and other property. Homes washed from their moorings with no lives lost though stock and crops damaged along a 30 mile river front.
The Augusta blaze in Georgia, described as the city's worst in years, started in the Davenport and Phinizy drug store. A Negro was mixing Venice turpentine when it ignited, triggering rapid flames. Fire destroyed an armory with exploding ammunition, burned three cotton warehouses, and sparked frantic bucket brigades across blocks, with Savannah and Macon sending aid.
Havana reports Maj. Rathbone uncovers widespread misuse of the franking privilege in Cuba. About 300 individuals including alcaldes and police captains use franked letters for personal mail, with Matanzas arrests of several merchants. In Milwaukee suburb Silver City a 65 year old woman Mary Edgar dies while 45 year old Mrs J Ellenwood and 63 year old Joseph Morissey are gravely ill after drinking beer Wednesday night. A girl fetched beer in a pail and another pail of tainted fluid is believed to have been substituted by an acquaintance now being sought by police.
A Cleveland citizen identified as J. Meyer was found on Laight street near St Johns lane in New York unconscious from heat Wednesday. He died at the hospital that night. He weighed about 200 pounds, stood 5 feet 8 inches, with brown hair and eyes.
June Mail reports Kinaston Jamaica that Mosquito coast Indians have rebelled against Nicaragua and plan to invite Prince Clarence to lead a rising. The movement is said to receive financial backing from foreign residents on the Mosquito coast.
Hobart Wiggins and companion Latti more, both from Kansas, drowned Wednesday while crossing the Guadalupe River near Kerrville Texas. Their bodies have not been recovered. Also in the same dispatch a telegram from Alfred Dreyfus to his wife Paris asks her to await his return with joy on Friday.

In Trerik Haute Indiana on June 8, drivers in mines north of the city demanded a 25 cent daily raise and quit. More than 200 miners were discharged, but President Van Horn forced them to return and honor the march agreement under threat of union expulsion.
