A Chinese general leads aBoxers attack on Pao Ting Fu resulting in the massacre of a foreign physician and 2,000 converts and further slaughter of 1000s of natives. Li Ho Keh orders extermination of Christians as he marches toward Peking.
The Chinese Legation in Berlin reports a dispatch from Peking via Sheng director general of railways and telegraphs warning that Gen Tung Fuh Yang will kill all legation members if international forces advance on Peking. The legation asks the viceroy of Nankin to verify if Baron Von Ketteler's widow is still alive.
Ten persons were injured in a Toledo street car accident late Sunday night, one fatally and two seriously. Passengers suffer burns, bruises, and shock after a blinding flash and smoke filled the car when a fuse blew and a lightning strike may have caused a short circuit.
Lewis Harvie Finnick, private secretary to Secretary Long, died at Warm Springs Virginia after a month long illness from fever. He will be interred in Washington.

Muncie Indiana doctors treating Henry Overmeyer say recovery looks good after he attempted suicide. The 68 year old has three bullet wounds in the brain two through the ears and one behind the head. Wounds are healing no pus forms nourishment is taken and he complains of no pain.
In Frankfort Indiana Albert the 11 month old child of Noah Sheets died bringing to four the number of children lost from the family in three months. Three siblings died in three weeks and the mother has become insane and is confined in the Indianapolis asylum. The bereaved father remains as the sole surviving parent of six children.
Brazil Ind July 30 after more than two months of strike the Indiana paving brick Co faced stoppage when union teamsters working on the new M E church building halted work as brick deliveries began for the foundation. The company then took back the union men and the dispute was settled.
Luther Sampson a respected farmer is confined in the county jail in an insane dying condition. He was indicted for burning a barn for the insurance and though acquitted of arson he brooded over the matter until he became a raving maniac. Physicians say he is dying of grief.
Corne lius S. Myers of Pleasant Plain has carried government mails between his town and Huntington for 25 years, totaling about 170000 miles. A statement of his work, signed by longtime county officials, is in his possession and he regards the career as a unique piece of property.
