Indiana Happenings Charged With Murder
Oliver Tomason, arrested by Sheriff Stone in Mitchell, Indiana, is charged with the murder of Frank Lantz near Bedford on July 4. Lantz was found dead with throat cut and two gunshot wounds. Indianapolis July 9 A gas main of Indianapolis Gas Co. ruptured below Fall Creek near Monon tracks. A northbound freight's engine ignited the gas producing a 40 foot flame as the train passed. No cars burned. one brakeman hurt. Crew shaken but unhurt overall. The break took hours to repair.

Cyrus Laughlin child dies in home fire camping scene
In Muncie Indiana on July 9 Cyrus Laughlin four year old son of Homer Laughlin a glass worker was burned to death in the rear of his home. Neighborhood children were playing camping out when a straw tick was emptied and Cyrus entered the building possibly lighting a match. The door was locked and he could not escape as neighbors arrived too late to save him.
