In Ottawa on January 24, the governor general and all ministers took the oath of allegiance to King Edward VII in a cabinet ceremony. Silver and other monies thus received go to the reserve fund. The full committee considered the report but had no time to decide.

In Muncie Indiana Prof H Ross a rumored clairvoyant who locates stolen items and predicts futures has vanished after a stake with farmer Albert Ketchum of near Daleville. Ketchum paid three hundred dollars in two hundred dollar bills for a will location and Mesmeric bill examination, but the professor left to mesmerize the money. The farmer suspects poisoning by his step mother and a previously made will. the body was exhumed but poison theory remains unsettled.
In New Albany Indiana on January 24 Reverend W W Wade pastor of the Velpen Christian church and three other churches faced counterfeiting charges after a deputy U S marshal found a coin forging outfit in his cellar Wade claims it was placed there by Barney Cato who was also arrested for the same crime indicating a regional gang activity in the area. Also on January 24 Mary E Payne sister of James Whitcomb Riley and wife of Frank C Payne filed for divorce citing cruel treatment and threats leading to a restraining order against her husband.
Muncie Indiana January 24 Thomas F Hart vice president of the American Window Glass Co issued a card denying reports that factories nationwide would close April 1 instead he says business is good and production will continue to July 1 as usual.
Evansville Indiana January 24 Prof Ernst Buddemeyer a leader of the Leiderkranz Singing society and prominent city musician was arrested on a charge of beating his wife He formerly resided in Cincinnati.
In Warren Indiana on Wednesday morning two Clover Leaf freights collided after orders were misunderstood. Four trainmen were fatally hurt. The men named are Prishman Brickenstaff Sarmen and Mills.
Frankfort Indiana residents report a burglary in progress with safeblowers visiting a local establishment on January 24. A customer or clerk secured a few dollars before the intruders fled, leaving scattered evidence at the scene. Police were called and investigations began.
