Berlin reports describe hungry mobs looting bakeries and charcuteries as rioters chant bread or work while the emperor and police struggle to contain disturbances. Troops and cavalry occupy strategic positions, and press censorship suppresses riot coverage as arrests rise.
Bradstreet's compiled table shows New York clearing house returns for the week ended February 25 1892 with the percentage change from the same week last year. The report outlines gains or declines across the principal cities and compares totals to prior periods.
The Democratic majority in the House unseated Andrew Stewart of the Twenty Fourth Pennsylvania district and seated Alexander K. Craig after debate. The majority resolution to seat Craig passed, while the minority resolution to affirm Stewart failed. The conference report on the urgent deficiency bill was agreed to, providing $428,663 in appropriations.
The 1880 to 1889 bulletin lists fifty five mineral varieties. Gold output falls from 36 million in 1880 to 30 million in 1883 with fluctuations thereafter and 32,886,744 in 1889. Silver rises from 39.2 million to 66,396,983 in the same period.

A Hamburg Connecticut correspondent reports a remarkable grove of hollow chestnut and walnut trees on Nickerson Hill in New London County. The wind entering tree hollows produces eerie sounds nicknamed Singing Trees, heard up to eight miles away. The effect foretells storms and peaks during the equinoctial period in September.
Jiet Biekner, a well known citizen and carriage manufacturer in Indiana, age 57, shot himself in the abdomen with a shotgun Friday and died minutes later.
Chicago markets show mixed action with flour steady, spring wheat patent prices around 4.70, rye at 84 1/4 to 86 1/2 cents, barley trading quietly at 33 to 40 cents, and pork and lard under moderate pressure while dairy and poultry offer softer demand. New York closes firmer on wheat near 1.04 to 1.06 for March to May, corn steady, oats dull, and fats prices for meat and lard showing slight declines reflected in cash and May terms.
