Three Killed In Freight Wreck Near Fairport
A fatal New York Central freight wreck occurred about four miles east of Fairport at 12:30 AM when an east-bound stock train of 23 cars collided with a west-bound freight of 17 cars after an open switch. Both locomotives were wrecked. several crew and animals perished or were badly hurt. Engineer Phillips survived, fireman Livsford was killed, and other crew members were injured or missing.
