James Redpath Dies After Car Injury in New York
James Redpath the Irish nationalist journalist and lecturer died at St Luke's Hospital New York from injuries after a Fourth Avenue horse car struck him near the post office. Born in England in 1843 he emigrated to Michigan in 1818 and became a noted editor and educator for Irish rights. He led Irish agitation in America and published Reidpath’s Weekly. His death ends a long career as a controversial figure in the Irish movement.
