Near Westville a wedding took place at the groom William Adsit's mother hospital bedside. Jennie Eaton and William Adsit spoke their vows as Mrs Adsit died minutes later, blessing the union in her final prayer.
A night wreck on the Northern Pacific division near Lakea station twenty five miles east of Pasco involved eastbound passenger No. 2. Two hoboes riding the blind baggage car were crushed. one died instantly, the other died soon after. Another man wounded fatally. no train crew or passengers killed. Names of victims not learned.
Indiana official J F Callen investigated the destruction of the Frank Nace saloon in Young America. Residents insist the saloon must not be rebuilt and warn dynamite will be used if it restarts. Also reports ex clerk D D Moody released from Michigan City Prison and plans to start law practice in Auburn. February 1866 notable for lacking a full moon with two months having none.

Joshua Siders, a veteran mail carrier, was robbed near Rexxey after delivering the mail. He had only four cents on him when a lone highwayman accosted him and escaped before help arrived. Two others were reportedly seen nearby, but details are incomplete.
Skip Groves serving a thirty eight days sentence in county jail for malicious trespass has taken charge of painting the jail interior. He issues strict orders to fellow prisoners to keep their hands off during the work.
