A blaze starting in a Chestnut Street cellar at 3:30 Sunday razed the Hazeltine building and the American Baptist Publishing Society at 1420 and 1422 Chestnut. The Hotel Lafayette sustained rear damage. Homer Le Boutelier & Co. dry goods store and adjacent areas were also hurt. Total loss about 1.075 million with most insured. Nine firemen injured. one guest, Frank Hines of Pittsburgh, broke bones in a stair fall.

Jury returns verdict in Arthur Duestrow murder case
Union Missouri February 3 The jury found Arthur Duestrow guilty of murder in the first degree in the second trial after the case was moved from St Louis. One ballot was cast Saturday night and the defense raised numerous exceptions likely prompting a new trial. The defendant killed his wife and child two years ago in a drunken frenzy.

Narrow Escapes Fire Spreads as Family Flies to Safety
